Environmental policy

Environmental protection and safety are cornerstones of our corporate policy at Contelec.

At the same time, we are aware that we rely on resources such as electricity, water and heat for the production of our sensors. Our objective is to protect the environment by using these resources sparingly and avoiding waste.

Environmental guidelines

Our responsible approach to the environment and resources requires us to determine and evaluate key environmental indicators. We aim to implement defined environmental targets and programs and use measurable criteria to evaluate our success. Environmental protection, safety and health are priority concerns at Contelec AG and are consistently implemented in all company activities.

Targets for improvement

Out of responsibility towards our fellow human beings and the environment, we have set ourselves the target of improving our environmental performance and impact. Any measures we take need to be feasible in both technical and organizational terms as well as economically viable. We also, of course, need to comply with statutory regulations governing environmental matters and with the standards we have set ourselves. Continuously improving our environmental performance will help us make an important contribution towards protecting the environment over the medium and long term.

Implementation within the company

Each of our employees is integrated into our management system. We provide information and training to encourage environmental awareness among our employees, both at work and outside the company. Our managers are required to implement the management practices that apply to their area of responsibility. It is important that we monitor effectiveness on an ongoing basis and incorporate the latest findings and requirements.

Conflict minerals

The term conflict minerals refers to minerals or their derivatives (also known as 3TG) sourced from mines in the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and adjoining countries. The income arising from the sale directly or indirectly finances armed groups, causing serious social and environmental damage through civil wars. The Dodd-Frank Act defines columbite-tantalite (coltan), cassiterite, wolframite and gold as conflict minerals. The aim of these rules is to reduce trade in conflict minerals sourced from mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and bordering countries and thus avoid financing armed conflict in the area.

Contelec is fully aware of its social responsibility with respect to the environment, safety, health
and human rights and our business decisions focus on sustainable
action. Respect for the law and for our own internal guidelines are the foundations of our integrity-based approach and are essential for our business.

At

Contelec, we do not directly import any minerals ourselves and, consequently, do not import conflict materials. We do not knowingly use any conflict minerals in our products. We source our materials only from qualified and reputable suppliers. We require our suppliers to ensure that the materials in the products they supply to us are purchased exclusively from conflict-free or certified smelting operations. To the best of our knowledge, our suppliers do not use conflict material sourced in the Democratic Republic of Congo or any of the adjoining countries. However, we cannot issue any absolute guarantee in this respect.

We apologize that, in the current situation, we are unable to fill out any questionnaires
or complete records in customer databases on this
subject.
