Rail technology applications require all components to be extremely reliable and durable. Whether used in conjunction with rolling stock, infrastructure or access systems, rotary encoders have to deliver consistently accurate and reliable measured results under extreme conditions, including strong vibrations and massive temperature fluctuations, with temperatures of up to 300°C.

Compliance with rail standards

Both the electronic and mechanical parts need to be designed for extreme conditions. Only the highest-quality electronic and mechanical components are good enough when it comes to these sensors. They also have to conform to rail standards. Cables and connectors, for example, are often not allowed to feature flammable materials.
