Vert-X 26

Flexible plug-in sensors

In applications that are subject to changing needs or heavy wear, it is important that replacing the sensors is a straightforward process.

The Vert-X 26 rotary encoders are plugged into the surrounding system rather than connected to it via an integral cable. The mechanical and electronic modules can be paired up in any combination, offering maximum flexibility.

Plug-in sensors for challenging applications and environments

With the Vert-X 26 series, Contelec takes a totally new approach: freely combinable mechanical and electronic modules allow virtually any configuration.

Where vehicles are typically subject to changing needs or heavy wear – in the case, for example, of agricultural vehicles and their associated implements, forklifts, aerial platforms, municipal vehicles, earth-moving vehicles and trucks – it is important that replacement of the various components used is a simple and straightforward process. Rotary encoders that are plugged into the surrounding system rather than connected to it via an integral cable offer maximum flexibility.

The plug-in design offers various advantages. If a sensor is faulty, it is simple to remove it and plug in a replacement, significantly reducing service costs. If major changes or modifications are required, a plug connection also makes the work much more straightforward. For example, there is no need to lay a new cable for the replacement sensor or to trace the entire cable harness.

Vert-X 26 – freely combinable modules

The plug-in sensors available on the market until now have crucial disadvantages. The mechanical and electronic modules are sealed units and only available in limited model variants. As a result, it is difficult to realize application-specific and individual solutions.

Contelec’s attractively priced plug-in sensors, part of the Vert-X 26 series, take a wholly new approach without any compromise in quality. Instead of sticking to a limited model range, the mechanical and electronic modules can be freely combined, allowing practically any conceivable configuration.

The mechanical module includes the shaft bearing and the fastening tabs for the mechanical mounting interface. The electronic module combines the electronics and the connector in a totally sealed unit. There is a choice of four standardized connector types.

When combined, the two modules produce a complete, high-quality rotary encoder with an IP68/IP69K protection rating that meets the highest of standards in terms of robustness, stability, environmental conditions and resistance to shock and vibration. Every Vert-X 26 variant is compatible with today’s market standards.

Proven MH-C/MH-C2 technology

The sensor technology used in the Vert-X 26 family is based on the familiar MH-C and MH-C2 technology and allows exceptionally accurate turn and angle measurements.

The mechanical module, with shaft and a choice of slide bearing or ball bearing, offers a hole spacing of either 32 or 50 mm for mechanical attachment.

The electronic module is available with a range of analog 5 and 24 volt interfaces or CAN variants. Fully redundant versions are available for use in safety-relevant areas.

Custom rotary encoder solutions

Thanks to the flexible concept behind the Vert-X 26 family, Contelec is able to offer quick and direct application-specific rotary encoder solutions. Popular types are available from stock, which means that samples can be provided without delay.

Custom versions that cannot be implemented with the available modules – for example, where specific signal processing or electrical characteristics are required – can be supplied in a matter of weeks.
